Close collaboration with the judicial sector
In 2024, the Arc de Triomphe embarked on a new cultural partnership for the judicial sector. This project has been developed in conjunction with the inter-regional directorate of the Protection Judiciaire de la Jeunesse d'Île-de-France et Outre-mer (DPJJ ÎDF-OM).
Managed by the Ministry of Justice, this department in the Île-de-France and Overseas regions groups together 136 public structures and 75 associative structures dedicated to the civil or judicial protection of minors, as well as support for their reintegration.
For the DPJJ ÎDF-OM, the educational follow-up of the young people it assists is an essential mission, favouring their socio-cultural emancipation and their integration into society. For the Arc de Triomphe, working with people experiencing social difficulties is an integral part of the "Living Together" mission, which is supported more broadly by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux.
Establishing a long-term partnership between the monument and the DPJJ ÎDF-OM has therefore proved essential to facilitating collaboration with young beneficiaries who are far removed from institutional culture.
The aim of this partnership is to promote access to the monument for young people and deepen the links begun in 2023, as part of the Printemps du Dessin (Spring Drawing) event. The partners are committed to offering cultural outings that reinforce the sense of belonging to a shared heritage and facilitate integration within the region's cultural institutions.
As a symbol of the Republic, the Arc de Triomphe is particularly symbolic of the civic and civic-minded spheres. The cultural proposals for the DPJJ ÎDF-OM aim to explore themes of national interest, such as remembrance, civic unity and the transmission of history.
With this in mind, a number of awareness-raising visits are also organised for educators in the facilities. At the same time, the DPJJ ÎDF-OM has organised an awareness-raising event for the monument's teams, to make them more aware of how to welcome these specific groups.

The structures affiliated to the DPJJ ÎDF-OM can take advantage of themed visits and workshops, whether on site, off-site or remotely, by adapting the itineraries to the needs of the young beneficiaries as well as to the reintegration and care programmes run by the educators.
To enable the structures of the DPJJ ÎDF-OM to organise creative and fun activities that encourage participants to talk and express themselves after the visit, the monument also offers playful and plastic mediation formats, such as creative workshops.
The Arc de Triomphe also offers long-term projects to interested organisations, through more direct local partnerships.
The proximity between the Arc de Triomphe and these various local structures is an essential condition for facilitating access to the monument and promoting cultural openness among these young people who are isolated and far removed from culture.
